There’s A Lot To Like About Granite Floor Tiles

Just a small sample of the huge range of granite tiles availableGranite has been used as a building material for hundreds if not thousands of years. It’s popularity has been based on one important factor – it’s tough.

Granite is one of the hardest natural stone materials available and when cut into tiles can be turned into a strong all-purpose floor. Granite also has high water resistance, making it a useful tile for bathrooms and kitchens as well as outdoor areas.

Weather is not a major factor for granite tiles, so they have been used in a wide range of applications outdoors, including around swimming pools, outdoor entertainment areas, and as paving.  When used indoors, granite floor tiles will withstand most punishment, including spills, although high acid spills should still be cleaned away quickly, especially if your granite floor tiles have been sealed.

Being natural stone, no two tiles are identical. This may be a problem if you want a uniform pattern across your floor. However, if you want something that is totally unique, then natural stone is definitely the way to go. Granite is made up of quartz, a crystal-like substance that comes in an infinite range of sizes and colors. This creates a random pattern through the stone which, when cut into tiles, creates the wonderful kaleidascope of color that granite is famous for.
