Porcelain tiles are one of the hardest tiles available for either residential or commercial flooring. These tiles are so dense they hardly require sealing to make them waterproof. Porcelain tiles are so tough that professional tilers go to the expense of getting special cutting equipment – if they didn’t, they’d wear out their cutting equipment very quickly.
One of the most popular tiles used for commercial flooring is the unglazed porcelain tile. Many commercial applications – for example, restaurants and commercial kitchens – use porcelain tiles that have been given a non-slip surface. These tiles are not as smooth and glossy as those often used in homes, however, they are well suited to busy areas where floor safety is an issue.
Glazed tiles are popular in areas where basic foot traffic is the only concern. Commercial areas such as banks, libraries and offices find that glazed porcelain tiles deliver a softer and warmer finish compared to unglazed. They are easy to clean only requiring a sweep or vacuum and occasional mop. Porcelain is so durable it is resiliant against staining, water, and many chemicals used to clean and disinfect floors and walls.
